Making a difference, year after year
Make a Difference Day is one of our country's largest national community service days. Project561 participates in Make a Difference Day annually. The projects may change, but the focus of unifying youth through service remains constant.
In 2016, Project 561 hosted a service day in collaboration with Groves High School and Tetra Tech engineering firm. Tetra Tech entrusted volunteers to help implement their S.T.E.A.M. Pilot Project: installing large big bio-swales to mitigate rainwater runoff and reduce the amount of storm water entering the city sewer system. In addition to performing a general cleanup of the park, volunteers planted over 500 native Michigan plants in the bio-swale.
